ms consultants, inc. took part, for the first time, in the International Interior Design Association’s (IIDA) bi-annual presentation of Product Runway. This event challenges designers to create couture garments out of products used in their everyday building projects. These products can range from carpet, upholstery, vinyl floorings, tile, etc. The ms team’s garment was created by using laser cut wallpaper sections held together by jewelry rings and a corset made with sewn together sections of wallpaper. The structure of the dress was supported by medical air hose.
The theme for Product Runway 2016 was Fashion Music Icons. The 21 teams involved in the competition randomly drew names out of a bowl to pick their icon at the kick-off event back in February. ms drew Jennifer Lopez! As you can imagine from the dress above, this process was a long one…the ms team worked more than 400 hours on the creation of the dress and spent another 40 brainstorming ideas!
The final event in May brought all 21 teams back together to be judged on their final garment and concert poster creations. The items were judged based on creativity, craftsmanship/construction, theme relationship, and model presentation. ms’ hard work and creativity paid off, as we were the lucky winners of the People’s Choice – Concert Poster award!
Overall, ms would like to extend a big thank you to IIDA for putting on such an amazing event and an even bigger thanks to our amazing team of staff involved with the creation of this dress and concert poster!
